Acqua & Sapone 2002 .

With the signing of mega-sprinter Mario Cipollini (165 career wins), the Acqua & Sapone team (formerly Cantina Tollo-Acqua & Sapone) is well set for 2002. Cipollini will debut for the team in the Tour of the Mediterranean (February 13-17, 2002), with his big goals being Milan-San Remo and the Giro d'Italia.
The team is losing its current leader Danilo di Luca, but will keep approximately half of its riders from 2001. Experienced riders such as Gabriele Colombo, Miguel Martin Puerdiguero, Filippo Simeoni and Guido Trenti are all staying, while in the younger ranks, 21 year old Simone Masciarelli is hoping to improve on a fine first pro season.
New additions include Spaniards Francisco Tomas Garcia Rodriguez and Santos Gonzales (both ONCE), sprinter Giovanni Lombardi (Telekom), Mario Scirea (Saeco) and Martin Derganc (KRKA Telekom), as well as several neo-professionals.
